A Year That'll Go Down in History
2026 is not a regular year.
America turns 250. Texas A&M turns 150. And the FIFA World Cup is being hosted right here in the United States, with Texas as one of the host states. For Aggies, all of that landing in the same year feels like more than a coincidence. It's something worth actually marking.
If you've got friends or family visiting from out of the country for the World Cup, this is a pretty great year to show them what Texas and Texas A&M are all about.
The Numbers Tell the Story
The United States was founded in 1776. Texas A&M opened its doors exactly 100 years later, in 1876, as one of the first public universities in Texas. That first class was small. Forty students, six faculty members, and a requirement that every student serve in the Corps of Cadets. It wasn't a polished start. It was a tough, committed one, which is about as Aggie as it gets.
A century after America declared independence, Texas A&M started building something of its own. And 150 years after that, both are still going strong.
That's worth putting on a shirt.

What 150 Years Actually Means
Texas A&M has graduated more than 500,000 students. It's one of the largest universities in the country. It's produced generals, astronauts, governors, and some of the most loyal alumni you'll find anywhere.
None of that happened by accident. It happened because, from day one, this place was built around service, discipline, and a community that shows up for one another. Those values didn't come from a marketing campaign. They came from 150 years of Aggies actually living them out.
So this year, when you're out celebrating the Fourth of July, take a second to think about what else 2026 means. America at 250. Texas A&M at 150. Two institutions built a century apart, both still standing.
